What is a moderator?

The philosophy of the site is to allow the community to share ideas freely. A moderator is simply there to ensure that quality and accuracy are maintained.

What are tags?

The basic categories used are, for simplicity, limited and relatively generic. Tags are a very useful way to associate key words with your tips in a way that makes sense for you and helps others to find great tips that have been tagged differently from the basic classification. You can do basic searches just using the existing predefined categories, but adding tags will help us to refine the most popular categories and add new ones.

How do I use tags?

Simply add new tags in the space provided at the end of of the tip submission form. For example, if you entered a tip about Half Dome in Yosemite, the basic categories might be SF (or LA)/Sporting/Free and you might add the tags "hiking", "Yosemite", "Half Dome".

How do I make the text in my tip stand out - how do I make it bold? in italics?

Surround the text you want formatted with the codes "<strong>" and "</strong>" for bold or "<i>" and "</i>" for italics, with the words you want bolded or italicized in between the HTML tags (no quote marks needed, that's just for this explanation).

How can I create a simplified hyperlink in my tip?

Type in the complete web address following by the text you'd like to appear in the published version in square brackets directly after the link (no space between the link and the bracket): http://www.example.com[example]

Can I delete a tip I have already entered?

From your personal pages, just go to the tip in your Tip list, click "Edit" and then revise or delete as appropriate.
